The general corrosion behavior of our products depends on the establishment of a fully mature protective oxide film.
Commissioning in accordance with the following recommendations enhances the development of this protective skin.

  • Continuous exposure to clean seawater for up to 3 months
  • In the case of an intermittent flow system (e.g. firefighting system) commissioning should be achieved in seawater without suspended matter. The seawater has to be replaced by oxygenated seawater once every 4-5 days to avoid putrefaction.


In case of stagnating service conditions and prolonged exposure to sulphide polluted water (harbours and brackish water) frequent refreshment of seawater at least once every 4-5 days should be performed to avoid potential localized corrosion.

Handling Instructions

CuNi 90/10 pipes, flanges, and fittings are very soft in the annealed condition.

For this reason, handling of these products shall be done only by hand or by textile slings. Care shall be taken to avoid any friction, bump, or impacts against other objects.

Packing shall be kept protected from rain, humidity, and a sour environment

Storage Instructions

All the and products shall be stored in warehouses or depots for storage sheltered from rain, humidity and sour environment.

Surfaces on which the product is laid or stacked shall be flat and free of protrusions, assuring full uniform bearing for the product length. Bearing surfaces shall be made of suitable material to avoid scratching in case of friction.

For stacks in the pipe yard the static load stress recommended shall not exceed 0.6 times the specified minimum yield strength of the pipe material.

If Nesting of products is used care shall be taken to avoid scratching and/or other damage to the ends and outside and inside surfaces of the products.
